#24: Inclusive Fitness with GRIT 920 – Insights from Sarah Morgan and Brian Gajeski
This week on It's Your Neighbor Podcast, Monte and Anthony sit down with Golden Apple Recipient Sarah Morgan and Brian Gajeski from GRIT 920. Founded in 2016, GRIT 920 started with a single class, one day a week, for participants with different abilities to train just like everyone else. Today, they offer a wide range of classes and programs tailored to meet the specific needs of individuals with different abilities.
Brian Gajeski, the head trainer for GRIT 920 and a trainer at BODE Central in Howard, WI (https://bodebootcamp.com), joins us to share his insights. Monte, who also trains at BODE and is a dedicated supporter and volunteer at GRIT 920, talks about how the organization's mission has brought greater purpose, meaning, and joy into his life.
Sarah Morgan, a special education teacher at Pulaski Community Middle School, shares her inclusive approach to education. She emphasizes the importance of creating a learning environment where everyone is included and can thrive by focusing on their strengths and interests. Sarah's goal is to help students with disabilities become as independent as possible, starting these experiences early to ensure their success and enjoyment.
Our discussion also explores unforeseen challenges in community work, prioritizing self-care, and advice on community building.
